WHY grAND tACO?

In March of 2021 as the restaurants of Grand Rapids tried to emerge from the 2nd round of shutdowns due to a global pandemic, we knew we needed something, ANYTHING, to raise our spirits and reconnect our community.

While uncertainty was the only certainty at the moment, one glimmer of optimism emerged from our dimly lit existence that was a thin ray of light and sliver of hope. A contest to bring the city together in friendly but intense competition helping us forget, if only for a few short weeks, the events of the world around us. A clash of culinary curators meant to remind us that there is good in the world, this pandemic would not define our existence...

...and man how we love tacos!

GRand Taco was born to lift up our souls and find the GRandest Taco Grand Rapids has to offer. Let's get out and support these great restaurants!

Who will be the winner in 2026? Only time will tell. But let's all enjoy trying to figure it out!!
